The garden is planted! Green Beans, corn, cucumbers, radishes, zucchini, beets, lettuce, tomatoes and peppers. More will go in as the autumn months come on when we will plant turnips, leeks, parsnips, and cabbage.
Last fall, Ashlee won Reserve Grand Champion in Preserved Foods at the Washington State Fair. Her basket weave carrots took top honors and were quite the show stopper. She won 5 Ball Awards. Her entries at Pierce County Fair in August did well too. There, the carrots won a special ribbon. The whole family is proud of her canning achievements, and she looks forward to going for that Grand Champion Ribbon in the years to come.
